Kazakhstan registers 6.8-pct industrial growth between Jan-Nov.2006

Kazakhstan’s State Statistics Agency has revealed that the country has experienced an industrial growth of 6.8% from January to November 2006….According to the agency, the industrial sector demonstrated vast improvement this year, as growth in the sector in 2005 was only 4.2% for the same period….The agency attributed this to improved raw material production, pegged year on year at 6.8%, in particular to ore production….It also confirmed that the country’s oil output had increased by 5.8%, while metal production rose by 7.7% year on year….The rebound in metal prices was very supportive for the spike….Manufacturing was the main driver of growth at 7.2% in the January to November 2006 period….The agency said that the positive results were encouraging signs for economic diversification ….The production of electricity, water and gas also went up by 4.3%, which was termed as a good result.
