Aset Matayev
According to the minutes of the general shareholder meeting of the state-owned Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK), the following persons were elected to the board of directors: Chairman – E. Utembayev (Chief of Staff of the RK Senate), members – K. Aitkenov (Vice-Minister of Economics and Budgeting of the RK), A. Isekeshev (Vice-Minister of Industry and Trade of the RK), S. Kulagin (Akim of Kostanai Oblast), K. Masimov (Assistant to the President of the RK), G. Uzbekov (Vice-Minister of Finance of the RK), K. Shalgimbayev (President of the DBK).
Kulibayev, Timur – The former first vice president of KazMunayGas is now head of the KazЕnergy Association, which represents enterprises in the energy sector, including oil and gas companies. This information was released through Interfax-Kazakhstan on 12th December.
Seifullin, Saken Orynbekovich – On 25th November 2005 became head of Alliance Policy at the insurance company’s shareholder meeting. Mr. Seifullin, who previous held the position of the general director of FoodMaster Company, was elected as chairman of board of directors. He is a graduate of the Almaty Institute of Public Economics (1978-1882). From 1995-99 he was financial director of FoodMaster Company, where from 1999-2000 he was executive director, and from 2000-05. Being a member of the Almaty City Council of Experts under the Akim, Mr. Seifullin was one of the initiators and founders of the charitable foundation, Zhenis (“Victory”), created for the purpose of providing medical assistance to the veterans of World War II. He has the titles of “Enbekshikazakh Audanynyn Kurmetti Azamaty” (“Honorable Citizen of Enbekshikazakh District”) and honorary professor at Almaty Technological University. He has been awarded a jubilee medal devoted for the 10th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Gizzatov, Vyacheslav – The former Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan was appointed as the head of the Commission on the Demarcation of the Russo-Kazakhstani Border. Mr. Gizzatov is 63 years old. He graduated from Saratov Law and Higher School under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. He has been in the diplomatic service since 1971. In 1993-96 he was Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RK. From 1996 he headed the Kazakhstani Embassy in Iran until 2000 when he was appointed Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Germany. In January 2004, he was appointed as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan. In July 2005 he was relieved from that position.
Renwick, Lord Robin – The vice president of JP Morgan Europe, has joined the board of directors of Kazakhmys. Earlier, Mr. Renwick was British ambassador to South Africa and the USA. Lord Renwick is included into the board of directors of Kazakhmys, the biggest copper producer in Kazakhstan and tenth in the world, as an independent director. Lord Renwick heads the compensation committee under the board of directors. The 67-year-old is also a member of boards of directors at SABMiller, Fluor Corporation, Compagnie Financiere Richemont and Fleming Family & Partners.
Kasymbek, Zhenis –Earlier was the director of the Aktau Seaport, and has now been appointed as Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications, replacing Talgat Abylgazin. Mr. Kasymbek is 30 years old and has a degree in architecture and economics.
Uandykov, Erik – was appointed as Vice-Minister of Environmental Protection. Mr. Uandykov was born on 27th January 1959. Over recent years he has worked as the head of the Almaty City Environmental Protection Department. Before that he was the head of the Almaty City Trade Department.
Evniyev, Arman – The Vice-Minister of Agriculture has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prodcorporatsii (replacing Akhylbek Kurishbayev) as per a resolution of the government, dated 10th November 2005 and order of the Ministry of Agriculture, dated 22nd November 2005.
Imashyev, Berik – The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of RK has been appointed as Chairman of Board of Directors of the Small Business Development Fund, as per a resolution of the government, dated 1st November 2005. Ivan Kravchenko, First Vice-Minister of Industry and Trade, who earlier held that position, has become Mr. Imashyev’s deputy.
Muhamedzhanov, Nurtas – The Deputy Chairman of the Information Agency on Technologies and Communications has been appointed as chairman of board of directors of Kazpochta (replacing Dulat Orazalinov), as per a resolution of the government, dated 10th November 2005. As well, from now on Askar Elemesov will participate at the board of directors meetings as a representative of the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK – replacing Naila Abdulina).
Baizhanov, Erlan – The First Vice-Minister of Culture, Information and Sport will run the board of directors of Kazinform, replacing Rustem Zholaman at this post.
Koshanov, Erlan – The Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications will head the board of directors of Astana International Airport. As well, Robert Young, the new president of the airport who replaced Serik Kaparov at this post, will be included into the board of directors.
As per the decision of a special general meeting of shareholders of Temir Bank on 30th November 2005, new, additional members were elected onto the board of the directors:
Zhatkenbayev, Erzhan Baiguzhaevich (independent director),
Zhandaulet, Talgat Bolatuly (representative for shareholders’ interests),
Zheksebekov, Marat Akhmadievich (representative for shareholders’ interests)
Asylbekov, Olzhas – Has become vice president of Kazkommerts Invest. Earlier, Mr. Asylbekov held positions as adviser to the chairman of the board of directors and then deputy chairman of board of directors at the Savings Pension Fund of Halyk Savings Bank (HSBK), director of the Treasury Department at HSBK, and director of the Budgeting and Analysis Department at Bank TuranAlem.
